There are hundreds of service providers. The most well known of these is AOL or America OnLine. ISPs or Internet Service Providers charge a nominal monthly fee for accessing the Internet. The actual fee will depend on how much time you anticipate being online each month. For unlimited access time, you can expect to pay around $20 per month. If you do not own a computer, you can use a school lab or a library connection to access the internet.

If you go to a local computer store, they can probably point you to several local providers for you to consider. You can then contact them to make your decision as to which. What you would like is a provider with fast access (T1 lines for example). Once you are registered with a local provider, you are ready to start browsing, uploading, downloading, etc. If you get a cable modem, your cable company acts as your provider.
